Tropical Mountain-Walker Leaders' Proficiency (TMLP)
The TMLP comprises of an extensive syllabus emphasizing on key elements that determines the effectiveness and readiness of an outdoor leader, ranging from personal skills and technical competencies, environmental and situational awareness, group management and leadership styles, legal and safety issues when mounting an expedition, focusing on expedition leadership skills in a tropical mountain environment. The tropical mountain leader must also consider the possibility of the expeditionary injuries and environmental damage. Careless treatment of natural hazards has often left poorly prepared enthusiasts with injuries. The course structure includes indoor and outdoor lectures, role-play and simulated scenarios.
Upon completing the strenuous examinations conducted in challenging terrains including steep slopes, river crossing and dense vegetation, participants will be entitled to the TMLP award issued by OBS and endorsed by SMF. This is only applicable for participants with outdoor competencies such as having a valid Wilderness First Aid proficiency.
The training will be conducted on 2-day local and 3-days overseas’ terrain.
Require minimum of 8 participants to start.
