"What I'm gonna change right now
- Be proactive rather than reactive; when I think about it, the reason why I upset myself sometimes, is because I've been reactive and as unstable as soda
- Change my paradigms from time to time; be flexible and less stubborn
- Always be my best; this is gonna be tough because there are times when I just don't feel like smiling and being kind to people who may not really care, but I still should give them a chance; take it as an investment in my 'Relationships Bank Account'
- Be more eloquent, answer and ask more questions. It makes me wonder why other people don't do this, but I should not be affected (too much) by them
- Love myself better"

Reflection from Kranji War Memorial.

The above is an outcome from "The Choice Is Yours" programme by Outward Bound Singapore (OBS).  Based on sound life-skills concepts found within the best-selling book 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens' by Sean Covey, and the No. 1 best-selling business book 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People' by Stephen R. Covey.  TCIY workshop was heavily customised for RGS students.

The 5-day workshop brought some 21 RGS students to various locations in Singapore.  This workshop allowed these students to par take in the Secondary three RGS camp while the majority of 433 RGS secondary three students were in Ubin on the OBS programme.

The following were personal reflections from Ubin, 5-day OBS/RGS programme:

"From the programme, I have learnt the importance of teamwork, and how to work with others that may be socially different from me. I have learnt that I should appreciate what I have back home too." - Feng Zhuo

"Pitching our own tent and sleeping in them for the very first time was an exciting and new experience for me!" - Png Shan Shan Dolly

"The night time was most memorable when all four of us rushed into the tent and zipped up completely to prevent mosquitoes from flying in. Although it is very stuffy, we had fun chatting with each other till we fall asleep one by one." - Pang Yee Ting

"That helping each other makes me feel much better than asking for help and that I have developed my self-confidence" - Arintha Adelina

"Encouragement works wonders. Teamwork, anything can be done with the end in mind" - Lea Tan

"My watch and I had a great time with each other and we even used Vietnamese to replace the command 'dip' & 'pull' during row boat. So cool!" - Nguyen Thi Kim Phuong

"The trekking land expedition was most memorable because we walked a lot, we knew what our goal was and we tried our best to achieve.  Through the programme, I have learnt how to cooperate with others and how to be efficient. After the programme I would like to reach out and get along well with local friends." - Cheng Hang

"The most memorable was probably the hike, as everyone encouraged and helped each other and tried to keep the spirits high so we all gritted our teeth and struggled on to the end together." - Lm Ci Hui

"I do not trust others easily, but during the Trust Fall, I learnt that I should as most people are very trustworthy." - Kim Na Hyun

"Climbing the quarry during the trek was memorable. We were all really tired, but the scenery at the top of the climb was just breathtaking and it made us all feel recharged!" - Jasmine Yak

"The achievement of reaching the top of the Inverse Tower was AWESONE. And being able to work with another person is great! Participating in an OBS course is a very meaningful experience and I have nothing to lose by participating." - Kimberly Lum

"It was through climbing the height activity, Double Dangle Duo that I learnt how to control my emotions, push my limits and overcome my fear of heights." - Maxine Ow Song Yeen

"I was about to give up during the ascending ladder (a height element) but due to everyone's support, I took the courage to finish it.  I learnt that the only fear is actually yourself and we have to take the first step to overcome it. Also, I learnt that we do have to accept everyone’s differences and think as a team." - Wee Hong Jing

"I have learnt that patience is a vital virtue, as you are being forgiving. One must be willing to wait, in order to build relationships and not hold grudges in order to resolve differences." - Amanda Chung

"Through the programme, I have learnt that everything has a best and worst possible outcome, and we are the ones who influence it.  And I want to be the best person I can be, and bring out the best in others." - Kok Heng Hwee

"From the programme, I have learnt not to give up, what you yearn or work hard for. Always persevere till the end and believe that you can overcome any obstacle, especially with the help of friends and family." - Pang Yee Ting
