Nothing makes for a better outdoor experience than total confidence in your skills. Whether you’re a newcomer to the great outdoors or an experienced outdoor leader, OBS has training programmes which will hone your skills and enhance your development.

OBS Training Development unit provides skills accreditation through the following courses:

Abseil Proficiency level 1&2 ( 3days)
The particpants will learn to set anchors in a fixed or natural surrounding for an abseil. The course includes a theory and practical examination. This is a national accreditation, endorsed by the Singapore Mountaineering Federations (SMF).

Singapore National Climbing Scheme Level 1 & 2 (4 days)
The particpants will learn to lead and climb a sport climbing wall (bolted). The course includes a practical examination. SMF endorsed.

Safety & Management of Challenge Rope Course (3 days)
The particpants will learn the profile, supervise and rescue in all the artificial rope courses. The course includes a theory and practical examination.

Wilderness Medical First Responder Level 1&2 (approx 4 days)
Wilderness Medical First Responder Level 3 (approx 3 days) - minimum 12 participants to start with
The particpants will learn medical skills set to responder to casualties in the wilderness setting (different from the urban setting). The course includes a theory and practical examination. The course is endorsed by the National First Aid Council.

Wilderness Medical First Responder level 3 (3 days)
This course is in duration and builds on Level One and Two’s basic life support skills.  It further develops the participant’s knowledge in first aid practices in a variety of traumas, medical and environmental emergency situations.  Participants exit as a Wilderness Medical First Responder (Advanced).

Risk Management (2 days)
The particpants will learn the identification of Risk in all activities and strategies adopt to minimise it to an acceptable level.

Games leadership (2 days)
The particpants will learn to play and design games based on the different profile of participants. The participants will go through basic risk management, facilitation to solicit learning outcome from the learners.

Kayaking Proficiency level 1 to 4 (dependent on levels)
The particpants will learn the skill sets from basic to advance level in sea kayaking. The participants will learn to handle various boat profile and proficient in it. The course includes a practical examination.

Tropical Mountain-Walker Leaders' Proficiency (5 days; pre-requisites required)
New! The particpants will learn the skills sets in taking groups in the trpoical mountain terrain. Skills include navigation, medical evacuation (WMFR), basic river crossing, handling Steep slopes, ration planning, trip planning, layering, etc. The course includes a theory and practical examination. The practical examination will be conducted in Malaysia. SMF endorsed.
